DIY Secret Spy Periscope
Build your own periscope to see around corners or over walls! You'll learn how light reflects off mirrors to let you spy on things without being seen.
Tools

Materials
- cardboard mailing tube or long rectangular cardboard box (2 feet long)
- small square mirrors (2 pieces, 2x2 inches)
- duct tape or masking tape (1 roll)
- glue or strong adhesive (1 bottle)
- decorative wrapping paper or paint (1 sheet/bottle)

- Adult supervision required when handling and cutting mirrors to avoid glass cuts.
- Be careful when using scissors.

- Protect work surface. Materials may stain clothing.
- Adult supervision required for children under 8.
Steps
- If using a cardboard box, ensure it is sealed shut. If using a tube, make sure it is sturdy and straight.
- Measure and mark a square hole at the top of the tube/box and another square hole at the bottom on the opposite side.
- Carefully cut out the two square holes using scissors. These are where your mirrors will go.
- Place the first mirror inside the top hole at a 45-degree angle, facing downwards.
- Secure the first mirror firmly in place using glue or tape so it doesn't wiggle.
- Place the second mirror inside the bottom hole at a 45-degree angle, facing upwards toward the first mirror.
- Secure the second mirror firmly in place using glue or tape.
- Look through the bottom hole; you should now see the reflection from the top mirror!
- Decorate the outside of your periscope with wrapping paper or paint to camouflage it for your spy missions.
