Steps
- Start with your square piece of paper. Fold it in half horizontally and vertically to create a cross crease in the center, then unfold it.
- Fold the paper diagonally from corner to corner in both directions to create an 'X' crease, then unfold.
- Fold all four corners into the center point of the paper (Blintz fold) to create a smaller square.
- Fold the four new corners into the center again to make an even smaller square.
- Fold the paper in half to create a rectangle, then unfold it to leave a center crease.
- Fold the top and bottom edges toward the center crease, then fold those edges toward the center again to create a narrow strip of paper.
- Carefully fold the strip in half and use your scissors to cut a small notch or 'V' shape into the side to help the petals open.
- Gently roll the paper from the bottom upward, twisting slightly as you go to create a spiral shape.
- Pinch the bottom of the roll tightly to form the base of the flower.
- Carefully peel back the top layers of the paper with your fingers to create the look of opening rose petals.
- Wrap the green pipe cleaner around the base of the rose and twist it tightly to create the stem.
