Materials
Safety
- Adult supervision required for children under 5.
- Do not eat the Skittles after the experiment.
Steps
- Place a white plate on a flat surface.
- Arrange the Skittles in a circle around the outer edge of the plate. You can place them in rainbow order or in a random pattern for more excitement.
- Slowly pour cold water into the center of the plate.
- Continue pouring until the water level reaches the edge of the Skittles, ensuring the water touches each candy but does not completely cover them.
- Watch as the sugar coating and dye dissolve and bleed toward the center of the plate to create a rainbow effect.
