DIY Frozen Yogurt Bites
Create a healthy, colorful, and customizable frozen treat using yogurt and your favorite fruits. This project teaches kids how to mix ingredients and experiment with different flavor combinations.
Materials
- Greek yogurt (1 cup)
- honey or maple syrup (1.5 tbsp)
- vanilla extract (0.5 tsp)
- parchment paper (1 sheet)
- fresh strawberries (1/4 cup, sliced)
- fresh blueberries (1/4 cup)
- fresh raspberries (1/4 cup)
- granola (2 tbsp)
- walnuts or almonds (2 tbsp, crushed)
- chocolate chips (1 tbsp)
- melted dark chocolate (2 tbsp, for drizzling)
Safety
- Adult supervision required for sharp objects.
- Adult supervision required for children under 8.
Steps
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, making sure it covers the surface all the way to the edges.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of Greek yogurt, 1.5 tablespoons of honey (or maple syrup), and 0.5 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Stir the mixture thoroughly until it is smooth and well combined.
- Pour the yogurt mixture onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spread the yogurt evenly with a spoon. For a thinner bark that melts faster, spread it thin; for a creamier, slower-melting treat, leave a thicker layer.
- Customize your bark by adding toppings. Divide the sheet into sections and add different combinations of sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, granola, and crushed nuts.
- Optional: Drizzle 2 tablespoons of melted dark chocolate or extra honey over the top for extra flavor.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until the yogurt is completely hardened.
- Remove the sheet from the freezer and carefully peel the bark off the parchment paper.
- Use your hands to break the bark into bite-sized pieces or use a knife to slice it into neat squares.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 3 months.
